TheCube Space is an independent art space devoted to the research, production and presentation of contemporary art, located in Taipei since 2010.

Azmyl—a bilingual singer-songwriter, scholar, performer, and videomaker—is a driving force in Malaysia’s underground/indie music scene, using "three chords and the truth" to expose society’s absurdities and injustices. From the streets to academia, he researches moral panics and suppressed histories in Malaysia’s music subcultures, with multiple fiery publications to his name. 🔥
In this event, he will present THE ETHICAL TROUBADOUR—a performance that blends lecture and singing—to expose how music has been labeled as “yellow culture” and turned into a political scapegoat. From punk crackdowns and forced urine tests to the underground scene’s fierce resilience, Azmyl continues to raise his voice—and his middle finger—against the system. 🖕 身兼雙語唱作人、學者、表演者與影像創作者的Azmyl，是馬來西亞獨立音樂圈的推手之一，堅持用「三和弦與真實」唱出社會的荒謬與不義。他從街頭走上學術殿堂，研究馬來西亞音樂次文化的道德恐慌與被打壓的歷史，還發表過多篇論文🔥 這次他將帶來結合演說與演唱的《真實之歌》，揭露音樂如何被貼上「黃色文化」標籤、成為政治操作的替罪羊。從龐克被掃蕩、尿檢風波到地下音樂的頑強生長，他用聲音和文字，繼續對體制比中指。🖕 #TheCube #RestlessMoon #AzmylYunor #Malaysia #underground

For the opening, TheCube is proud to invite Malaysian punk pioneer Joe Kidd to deliver an exciting opening talk. He'll dive into the underground sounds of the 1980s , unearthing a rebellious history forgotten by the mainstream! From the cassette black market at East Coast bus stations to Kuala Lumpur's subcultural revolution , this talk isn't just about music ; it's about a group of people who used noise to fight silence in the cracks of their era . The exhibition brings together key figures from Malaysia’s underground music and art scenes: Joe Kidd (The Ricecooker Archives), Man Beranak from the punk venue Rumah Api, the punk band No Good and filmmaker Azam Sa‘ad, artist Poodien, musician Azmyl Yunor, and Taiwanese punk collective Suck Glue Boys. 月光：走進馬來龐克的地下聲場》，邀請馬來西亞文化研究者馬紅綾（Beh Hoong Ling）策劃，並集結來自馬來西亞地下音樂與藝術場景的重要創作者：Joe Kidd（The Ricecooker Archives）、龐克空間Rumah Api負責人之一Man Beranak、龐克樂團 No Good 與導演 Azam Sa‘ad、藝術家 Poodien、音樂人 Azmyl Yunor，以及台灣龐克團體吸膠少年。本展將透過文件檔案、視覺藝術、聲音與錄像作品、工作坊等形式，試圖勾勒出馬來穆斯林龐克參與者所處的文化矛盾與抵抗之姿，為觀眾打開一扇觀看馬來西亞當代社會另類面貌的窗口。 *本展主視覺元素由參展藝術家Poodien提供

【展覽預告】
立方即將呈現一檔比較特別一點的展覽，我們來認識印尼萬隆的搖滾文化！「搖滾印尼：萬隆的滾石文化殘響」結合檔案、聲響、繪畫與行為，希望透過微觀的視角，自下而上地從常民生活與流行文化探索印尼的藝術創造力來源，並向台灣觀眾介紹萬隆這個城市──「南方」概念的發源事件「萬隆會議」的舉行地點。目前進入佈展的最後階段，於本週五8/30下午17:30開幕。本展策展人Irfan和參展藝術家之一Rama Saputra將進行現場聲響表演。此外，Irfan也會在現場導覽，透過口述深入瞭解萬隆搖滾文化的故事。 -------------------
