About Us
Founded in April 2010, TheCube Project Space is a non-profit art organization registered under the Self-Government Ordinance for the Guidance and Management of Performing Arts Groups, Taipei City. TheCube is dedicated to the research, promotion and presentation of contemporary art, with a particular emphasis on art that bears profound humanistic concerns. It also seeks to weave together international and local networks and to facilitate dialogues between contemporary art and art history.
Located in a vibrant cultural neighbourhood around National Taiwan Normal University, TheCube is surrounded by a variety of art venues, bookstores, eateries, pubs, restaurants and cafés. Positioning itself as a venue with an international vision and a continuing commitment to introducing outstanding contemporary artists from home and abroad, TheCube hopes to enrich the cultural and artistic landscape of southern Taipei.
As of 2024, TheCube has hosted more than seventy exhibitions and over a hundred talks and performances, and has published its research outcomes through its website, books, internet radio, music festivals and other diverse formats. It has collaborated with more than 200 artists, researchers and cultural practitioners, as well as with several mid-to-large-scale art institutions and international partners, including Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, MoNTUE, Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei, Mudam Luxembourg, Independent Curators International (ICI, New York), and Total Museum of Contemporary Art (Seoul).
“Altering Nativism — Sound Cultures in Post-War Taiwan”, curated by TheCube, was awarded the Grand Prize of the 13th Taishin Arts Award in 2015, and its accompanying publication received the Golden Tripod Award for Best Editor in 2016.
TheCube Project Space is supported by the National Culture and Arts Foundation, Department of Cultural Affairs (Taipei City Government), Lo’s Lifestyle & Aesthetics Foundation, and Mr. Po-Wen Chen.
