Tapetum Lucidum 2018 – The 3rd Taiwan International Cat Film Festival

“Tapetum Lucidum 2018 – The 3rd Taiwan International Cat Film Festival” is co-curated by Lee Ming-Yu and Liu Yung-hao. Is nature found or constructed? Is the truth discovered or made up? The thinking progression in the history of contemporary science is the same proposition we are discussing in the process of planning the 3rd International Cat Film Festival in Taiwan. Were cats discovered? Or were they constructed? Was contemporary art fabricated? Was cinema discovered? These are questions of film and art that we try to rethink and learn through our time spent with cats.

Continuing from the first Cat Film Festival in 2016, this cat-themed festival is the first of its kind in Taiwan, and the first art festival in Asia to reflect about cinema through cats. A total of 12 groups of artists have been invited to participate in “Tapetum Lucidum 2018 – The 3rd Taiwan International Cat Film Festival”, which will be screened at TheCube Project Space from 23 to 25 February 2018. The Taiwan International Cat Film Festival aims to create a new paradigm of watching film and art. Through the eyes of the tapetum, we will see new possibilities and inspirations in creations.
