TheCube 15 Crowdfunding Project Successfully Achieved Its Goal, Cube Sincerely Thanks the Art Community for Its Support!

After two and a half months, TheCube 15 Crowdfunding Project has exceeded its goal of 1 million TWD by the time the campaign ended! TheCube extends heartfelt thanks to all the friends who supported and donated.

As the crowdfunding campaign concludes, TheCube will begin preparing the rewards for all contributors, including tote bags, limited-edition signed records by Lim Giong, works Seascape by Lai Chih-Sheng, electronic tickets for the Sonic Shaman: TheCube Forum Music Festival, and more. TheCube will soon start contacting donors, and your rewards and receipts are expected to be sent out starting in October 2024. Anyone who has donated will become a Cuber and we will prepare a digital card for you.

In addition to expressing our gratitude for your support, TheCube Project Space would also like to inform supporters about the status of the funds raised and the next steps:

1. The production period for the rewards will be from September 2024 to the end of November.

2. The rewards will be sent out between October 2024 and the end of February 2025.

3. As of September 9, 2024 (Note), this Cube crowdfunding campaign raised 1,408,310 TWD. After deducting platform costs, production fees for the rewards, artwork production costs, and artist compensation, the actual funds raised are 728,875 TWD.

4. These funds will be invested into TheCube’s operational expenses for 2024-2025, ensuring the basic rent and staff costs for TheCube Project Space.

*Note: Some donations are set up as recurring, so the total amount will fluctuate accordingly.*

Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that the success of this crowdfunding campaign has been a great encouragement to TheCube. Not only has it allowed us to engage directly with our community participants, but through this crowdfunding, participants now know the events TheCube will carry out in the coming year. Having met the threshold in our first crowdfunding effort, TheCube will make crowdfunding a regular part of our operations moving forward, meaning we hope our supporters will continue to participate and support us in the future.

While small-scale crowdfunding for non-profit organizations may seem like a long and difficult path, it also allows us to more clearly plan for the future and maximize our efforts. Bit by bit, we build up—this is the power of the community. Moreover, through this crowdfunding campaign, theCube has posed the question: Is there still a necessity for non-profit independent spaces in today’s society? We have also invited reflection on the diverse and heterogeneous practices that can exist within the cultural spectrum. Your support has given a resounding affirmation to this question, which is crucial for TheCube’s future work, providing us with energy and backing.

We also have great news for TheCube supporters: our three-way exhibition project with the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco and the Chinese Culture Center (CCC) of San Francisco, titled Melting Boundaries, has received funding from the Ministry of Culture’s Black Tide Project. This project will feature eight Taiwanese artists, all commissioned to create new works. The Melting Boundaries project is expected to be realized between 2026 and 2027. Thanks to the support of Cubers through this crowdfunding campaign, we will strive to fulfill expectations and realize this exhibition, bringing Taiwanese artists to the international stage and allowing more global audiences to witness the power of Taiwanese art!

Finally, TheCube Project Space will continue to fulfill its planned projects, providing the arts community with exhibitions that combine both breadth and depth, while fostering critical thinking and artistic practice. We look forward to your continued participation in the future!

TheCube Project Space once again offers our heartfelt thanks! We will continue to move forward with this tangible and intangible energy.

Sincerely,

TheCube Project Space Team
